The importance of routine

Provide a range of commercial fitness equipment to help your clients get the most from their training sessions.

As a gym owner or manager, you’ll know that you need to have a range of commercial fitness equipment in your studio in order to ensure that clients get a balanced workout. Everyone has a slightly different exercise routine, based on their current fitness levels, the goals they have set for themselves and any injuries or health problems they might be carrying. By balancing the range of equipment you offer, you’re helping your clients to succeed with whatever routine they are using.

Commercial fitness equipment for diverse needs

Because you run a business, and have clients with a variety of needs, you need to ensure that the commercial fitness equipment you buy is not only durable and capable of high performance, but also that it provides the variety of workout routines that your clients are looking for. Exercises are generally broken down into sub-groups, which include:

  • Stretching – stretching is advisable both before and after exercise. Stretching before you exercise allows your muscles to warm up gently, helping to prevent muscle damage when you make them work harder during your routine. At the end of your training session, it’s always best to do additional slow stretches to avoid the build up of lactic acid in your muscles, which could cause you pain later on. Stopping quickly after prolonged exercise can also result in dizziness, so it makes sense to slow down your heart rate with some simple stretches before you go for a shower.
  • Cardio exercise – much commercial gym equipment is focused on improving cardio-vascular performance. These exercises improve the fitness and performance of your heart and lungs and so are crucial to long-term wellbeing. Commercial fitness equipment that you need to have in your gym includes rowing machines, treadmills, bike machines, steppers and cross-trainers.
  • Resistance exercise – lifting weights in the right way helps to strengthen muscles and improve general fitness. Commercial fitness equipment is essential for gyms that want to encourage resistance training. Many people favour resistance training only – particularly those who are into body-building, so it’s important not only that you have the right equipment, including weights, but that you site them in the right space and understand how to use them properly.
  • Core exercises – routines that work on core body strength are increasingly popular – as the rising numbers of people attending yoga and Pilates classes show. If you want to offer classes in core strength at your centre, you’ll need the right commercial fitness equipment, including good quality floor mats, balance balls, wobble boards and more.
