Cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET) measures the response of the body to an increased level of activity which is then used as a ‘marker’ of fitness, specifically of the heart, lungs and muscles.
Cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET) uses a piece of equipment to stress the body, such as a bicycle, to make the heart and lungs work harder. Pulmonary function diagnostics measure the amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) that is produced and the amount of oxygen (O2) that is used up during the exercise.
