Fitness Testing
Fitness testing enables data to be assessed relating to components of an athletes fitness and there are many reasons for undertaking a fitness test, including highlighting strengths and weaknesses of an individual, evaluating a training program and assisting in goal setting etc.
In order to be relevant to a sport, a fitness test must mimic the fitness demands of that sport, and in order to do this, a series of tests may need to be conducted.
It is generally recommended that the following set of fitness tests are performed:
- - Weight and height measurements
- - Aerobic and anaerobic fitness and power tests
- - Muscular strength and endurance tests
- - Flexibility and mobility tests
- - Speed and agility tests
