Bishop Burton College is a specialist, technical college in the East Riding of Yorkshire. It also offers extremely successful sports performance academies for different disciplines. And now, with their new three career-focused pathways on the BTEC Level 3 Sport course, there is also a new, dedicated sport facility. This will include industry leading equipment for sports therapy and sports performance testing.
Sports Therapy And Sports Performance Facilities
From this September, Bishop Burton College is offering their new three-year BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Therapy and Rehabilitation programme. The programme is accredited by the Society of Sports Therapists. It will provide students with all they need for their career for sports rehabilitation. What’s more, it is supported by a new and dedicated sports lab.
It is at this new facility that the College’s recent purchase of the h/p/cosmos Quasar Med with Airwalk from HaB Direct resides.
Medical Treadmill For Sports Rehabilitation
This medical treadmill is suitable and certified for medical applications and testing. We made a recommendation for this solution as part of the tender bid process because it fulfils many requirements. In addition, we also made a recommendation for the h/p/cosmos Airwalk unweighting system. This will help to meet as many of the demands of the new course as possible.
The combination of the h/p/cosmos Quasar Med with Airwalk ticks all their boxes. It will also offer opportunities to multiple departments. For example, there is a big focus on sports therapy in the teaching programme. To help achieve this, the Airwalk unweighting technology will facilitate a range of sports rehabilitation protocols. Furthermore, it will open doors to working with athletes and external clients. The Quasar Med treadmill also has the pull-stop/safety harness technology. This provides the treadmill with dual functionality. As a result, it will support a maximal sports performance test, as well as, sports therapy and recovery.
In fact, this h/p/cosmos combined solution is seen as essential and is therefore now the centrepiece in the new sports lab.

New Sports Lab
This new facility not only includes a physiology testing lab, but also a multi-station therapy clinic and strength and conditioning/rehabilitation suite.
Bishop Burton College’s investment in the h/p/cosmos treadmill means that they are able to provide training in high-performance sport and fitness. Additionally, students will be able to perform human performance diagnostics, sports therapy, cardiac rehab and cardiopulmonary exercise testing.
Furthermore, the addition of the h/p/cosmos Airwalk enables gait training and functional training to be performed very early on. This is hugely beneficial when a subject suffers a sports injury. The goal of the Airwalk is to bring the subject’s movements back to a normal rhythm. And, with the Airwalk, this is achievable even if the subject’s joints are not able to be loaded just yet.
