Hemo Control Microcuvette

These Haemoglobin Microcuvettes are for use with the Hemo Control Hemoglobin Analyzer from EKF. They provide precise sample collection, and require only 8µL of capillary, venous or arterial blood.

This is a pre-filled cuvette with dry reagent, and has an operating temperature of 15-40 °C.

Being individually wrapped gives them good protection from humidity, making them ideal for use in a challenging climate. With a shelf life of 18 months for each cuvette, they are well suited for use in low volume sites.

What measuring method is used?

Hemo Control / Hemo Vet’s measuring method is azide methemoglobin. The reference methos that Hemo Control / Hemo Vet is calibrated against is the cyanmethemoglobin reference method, known as NCCLS (now CLSI) reference method. This methodology yields results comparable with ICSH standards. A maximum of 0.3 g/dL (3g/L or 0.2mmol/L) at 15.0g/dL (150g/L or 9.3mmol/L) is accepted.
What connectivity package does Hemo Control/ Hemo Vet have?

“Hemo Control / Hemo Vet can be upgraded to use its on-board data management (DM) functions if, for example, a setting wishes to implement a LIS solution. The bi-directional interface simplifies the connection to LIS solutions using a public standard protocol (LIS2-A2). Connection to a LIS subject to an adaptation of the local installation or middleware to use Hemo Control’s interface. EKF Diagnostics provides support to conenct to specific LIS solutions.

A USB connector cable or a serial Sub-D-9 cable can be used to establish the PC connection. Alternative connection solutions can be realised using serial-to-LAN or BT-to-LAN bridges.

Hemo Connect software allows the configuration of DM enabled Hemo Control analysers to export data in a standard file format. Meanwhile, Hemo Connect Light (a freeware version) supports data export only.

Note: The Hemo Control Manager device already supports data management function at delivery. Additionally, the device features a Bluetooth interface for data communication.”
What data management functions are available?

“Data management functions include: Barcode identificatoin of patients, access control and identification of operators, recognition of cuvette LOT and control materials, definition of Quality Control scheme and QC lockout function, addition of comments to test results, flagging of rejected calues and range of violations.

Barcodes are read by the analyser using an ergonomic hand-held scanner.”
What controls does Hemo Control / Hemo Vet use?

“Unlike other brands, Hemo Control / Hemo Vet has three methods for quality control. Operators may choose the suitable control methods based on their local QC requirements.
1. Each time the analyser is turned on a self-test is performed automatically.
2. A control cuvette is included with each analyser. Using the control cuvette is not compulsory but we do recommend its’ use as a visible quality control method.
3. Liquid quality controls (Hb-con) are also available.”
How often should the optics be cleaned?

“EKF Diagnostics recommends that the optics of the analyser are cleaned at least once a month. Depending on usage and sample through-put more frequent cleaning may be required.
Only Hemo Control Cleaner should be used for cleaning the optics. To do this the cuvette holder must be removed from the instrument. The cuvette holder should also be cleaned with a cleaning solution or aqueous disinfectant solution.”
Do you keep consumables in stock?

We keep many of the consumables required for the Biosen, Hemo-Control, Hemo-Vet, Lactate Scout+ & Lactate Scout 4 devices, Quo-Lab and Quo-Test devices in stock. We place regular (weekly) orders for consumables, to minimise the likelihood of being out of stock.
