Wireless EMG with internal IMU
The Noraxon Ultium Wireless Surface EMG sensor system is a multi-modal device that delivers high-fidelity data and flexible measurement options. Ultium EMG sensors sample up to 4,000 times per second, synchronize in real-time, and demonstrate low baseline noise (<1 μV RMS) with minimal native artifacts. The implementation of IMU enables you to record both EMG and movement data.
The system features a variety of SmartLeads, which transform the EMG device into a versatile sensor for virtually any type of kinesiological data, and supports complete data recovery with Lossless technology. Each Ultium sensor includes lifetime battery replacement.
Description
What is Surface EMG (SEMG)
As muscles contract, electrical signals are created within the muscle that may be measured from the surface of the body. A procedure that measures muscle activity from the skin is referred to as surface electromyography (SEMG).
Researchers and clinicians use SEMG to evaluate the functional status of skeletal muscles and assist inneuromuscular training and rehabilitation. The small electrical current, or signal, which comes from active muscles, is detected by sensors placed on the skin directly above the muscles. The strength and pattern of the signal is displayed onto a computer screen and the data is collected in a software program that is able to run various analyses of the data to create useful reports regarding muscle function.
The Noraxon Ultium is a research-grade Wireless EMG system equipped with high sampling rate & resolution, low baseline noise, versatile SmartLead options, and powerful wireless communication.

Research
This Noraxon ultium Wireless Surface EMG and (FMD-T, Zebris) pressure distribution measurements, combined with the h/p/cosmos quasar treadmill, is used in this research that finds that this ‘Unilateral non-electric assistive walking device helps neurological and orthopedic patients to improve gait patterns’. Furthermore, it suggests that the tested device,
“may help to improve patients’ functional health status and quality of life.”
